We are excited to be participating for the first time at MIA Photo Fair, the international photography exhibition, from 11 to 14 April 2024 at Allianz MiCo Milano Convention Centre. The event, now in its 13th edition, will revolve around the theme of “Changing”, addressing topics ranging from climate change to civil rights, and the challenges posed by social, economic and technological transformations. Within the fair, alongside 11 other galleries, we will be part of ACROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN, curated by Dr. Rischa Paterlini.
Inspired by the performance Crossing the Border realized last year at MIA PHOTO FAIR by Zoya Shokoohi (1987, Isfahan, Iran) and by the reading of A Journey to the End of the Millennium by Abraham B. Yehoshua, this section brings together the visual narratives of photography to tell stories where our sea does not serve as a border but becomes a bridge of connection between East and West, a thread that unites the cultural and historical diversities of lands reflected in the camera lens.
The Mediterranean has historically served as a conduit for cultural exchange, and its influence on Egypt's arts and culture is profound. We are delighted here to present the work of six artists, each offering us a glimpse, whether imagined or real, of life in Egypt. On exhibition will be: Ibrahim Ahmed, René Clement, Paul Geday, Barry Iverson, Xenia Nikolskaya and Sara Sallam.
You can find us at Stand E 020
Fair hours are: 12 -8:30 pm daily
We are delighted to be participating in the 7th edition of salon a ppr oc he Paris, November 9-12, 2023 with a solo presentation of unique works by Ibrahim AhmedAhmed presents at a ppr oc he works from I never revealed myself to them (2016–2022), an extensive body of work with numerous iterations through which he examines masculinity(ies), its traditions and representations. The display mainly features pieces from Ahmed’s second iterations You can’t recognize what you don’t know (2020–2021), a collection of monochrome photomontages that combine posed pictures of the artist taken in photography studios together with images of a documented performance. Using techniques involving editing, cutting and layering, he fragments and reconstructs his images of the male body into new and peculiar re-enactments, gesturing the performative nature of masculinity and the permeating effects of social constructionism. Selected works from the artist’s succeeding iterations are also included, for which he has created colour photo collages using found images from his father’s family albums. For Ahmed, this ongoing body of work acts somewhat as a visual diary, with each iteration evolving as he delves deeper into his personal history and the relationship to his own manhood.

TINTERA is delighted to be participating at the sixth edition of Photo London, the gallery’s first physical art fair. Bringing together works by Ibrahim Ahmed and Heba Khalifa, the stand focuses on themes of identity and gender issues through a contemplative display of photographic portraits and unique photo collages. TINTERA is the only gallery from the MENA region to be taking part in Photo London 2021, and the featured artists’ works on the stand are being shown for the first time in the UK.
Both Ahmed and Khalifa use photography as a tool to explore and bring to light untold realities of people, investigating and breaking down social taboos surrounding our relationship to bodies and their representation. By placing their recent projects side by side for the first time, TINTERA’s stand highlights how their distinct practices intersect with each other as they endeavour to examine and rethink gender construction and positioning in our world today.
